In the year 2000 Yu Zengyun, head of TEFL Academy, headed his first summer English school hosting American teachers and Chinese students in China’s eastern Zhejiang province. Realizing the demand that existed all over China for proficient English teachers he decided to take the next step to help build an organization that can fulfill this need. The Center was founded in coordination with TEFL Academy former English teacher Isaac Ashton, and with assistance from Dr. Yu of the State University of New York in Buffalo. We have grown rapidly in a short time with new offices continually being opened in America and China and with more and more participating schools joining us all over China. We now have more than 20,000 students and business professionals eager to learn from people like you. TEFL Academy and ACT’s China headquarters is located in one of the most beautiful cities in China, Hangzhou, which combines the charms of Chinese traditional landscapes and art with the convenience of a modern city. Hangzhou is located just 2 hours south of Shanghai. The ACT Center has been very successful over the last few years and is currently branching out to provide more opportunities for cultural exchange.
